Praise the Lord!

When peace, like a river attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul

It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul

My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Was nailed to the cross and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul

Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend
Even so, it is well with my soul

Praise God!!!! My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought, my sin, not in part but in WHOLE was nailed to the cross and I bear it no more! Praise the Lord!! Praise the Lord! Oh my soul!!!!

The power of the beautiful gospel! May we never leave the foot of the cross. God, my father, the ONE true God, the Creator of this UNIVERSE, my blessed savior, Jesus, Holy Spirit in me!! Let the earth shattering news of the gospel NEVER depart from my heart & head.

This is a special hymn. Another one I like is "Nearer my God, to thee." Good to hear from you. Many blessings.

Love this song. The old hymns are FULL of gems. "Be Thou My Vision" gets me everytime.

Thank you for reminding us to keep our focus in the right place. It's all about HIm and His glory - everything else is less important.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look FULL in His wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace.

I googled "God, please help me understand the hurts that crush my heart at times." Your blog appeared. I have been pouring over it all morning. Thank you for being an answer to prayer to a hurting heart. Dawn Marie

Hello, Randi Jo.:)

The cross. My thought is that we should always be carefully prayerfully that our Christian theology does not add to or take away from the Biblical message of the cross.

Hi Randi Jo,
I have never fully felt an appreciation for the Psalms. I know that sounds terrible and it probably is.

What I see when I read the Psalms is a lot of heart ache and pain. I feel it was private. The compulator(s) of the Psalms may have felt that these prayers were valuable as a reminder of how much we need to rely on The Lord and pour our hearts out to Him. That is true. However, these prayers are not Gospel. Some denominations of Christendom actually use these prayers to take the place of The Bible. Liturgical denominations are especially guilty of this.

I think the Psalms are helpful for young Christians to learn of what a relationship with The Lord can entail. However, there needs to be something of a relationship with The Lord that stands alone, without speaking in poetic, lyrical statements.
